Venue

Based upon the total number of attendees you expect, there are several options for locations. These could include:

  • Universities, school campuses or learning centers

  • Co work spaces

  • Non-profit organization offices, especially whose mission is education

  • Restaurants or public eating houses

  • Company meeting rooms

  • Community centers and halls

  • Religious centers

  • Public learning centers and libraries

  • Hotel meeting rooms


Pro tip: Select a couple of target event dates in case your speakers are not available or there is another event being held on the same date in the area.


When viewing the location

Layout

  • Check out the layout of the room - speaker stage or posts blocking audience view

  • Select a room size that is a little large than you need

  • Total number of attendees expected (and what is the room capacity)

  • Heating or cooling available

Equipment

  • Equipment available - chairs, tables, project and screen, microphones, and sound speakers

  • Does it have good public Wi-Fi

Location

  • Parking and public transit

  • Check out the location twice - once during day and time of day when event will be hosted

  • Hosting in quieter locations or after dinning hours for restaurants
